  • Baby/child dedication

Above all, Sugar Grove believes children are a gift from God, and we are very excited that you are investigating child dedication. Child dedication is a public commitment you make before God, your church, and your family. Further, the dedication service provides you, the parent(s), an opportunity to express publicly your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, so your child will develop a desire to love God and love others. Listed below are some frequently asked questions about child dedication. Take time to review them & click to find answers to any questions you may have. For unanswered questions, feel free to contact the office.

  • Nursery

Nursery care is available on Sunday mornings during both worship services and Sunday school for newborns through age 2. Diaper bag tags are available and name tags are placed on children's backs to help us get to better know your child. Activities take place to make even our youngest aware of God's love for them.

  • Children's church

Children's Church is available for age 4 - 3rd grade during the 10:30 worship service. (If there are five Sundays in a month, there is no Children's church on the 5th Sunday.) Children's church includes singing together as a group in the Chapel before splitting off into age groups for bible lessons, prayer, crafts and snacks.

  • b.l.a.s.t.

On Sunday evenings our children gather together for BLAST (Bible Learning And Sharing Together). We start together as a large group for singing and bible activities. Then children are divided into smaller age appropriate groups for more learning, snacks and crafts. Each month is a different theme. There are take home activities that can be done as a family to reinforce what your child is learning.

  • c.i.a.

(Christians In Action) This is a special group for our 4th and 5th graders. It’s a transition into the teen group. They meet in their own area and enjoy hands on and interactive learning of the bible! They also enjoy a fun trip to lazer tag each year!

  • vbs

Sugar Grove teams up with two other local churches (Green Center United Methodist and Charter Oak Church) for our summer Vacation Bible School. Children learn God's Word through a themed week of Bible stories, prayer, crafts, snacks and games.

  • blessing of the backpacks

One of our favorite Sunday's of the year is "Blessing of the Backpacks". All students and teachers are encouraged to bring their backpacks/bookbags to church. We have a special time of prayer at the alter and each student and teacher is given something special to attach to their bag for the year as a reminder that our congregation is praying for them throughout the year!
